But lets get started with an overview of where we start the year, based on pre-season projections:
Of course, there is North Carolina, as Hansborough is back, and of course, there is Duke in the top 10, even though they absolutely suck year in and year out (i love how Maryland continues to beat Duke every year), and they are the closest non-Big Ten team to understand the Big Ten league, as they get a dis-proportionate share of ridiculous, momentum-halting calls...does anyone else out there not find the sport of basketball completely rigged right now, i mean i am too young to remember it being any different, but old enough to know there was a time when, for whatever reason, the powers-that-currently-be did not find black athletes to be a threat to their system, or at least did not have the power to maintain a sham of a system...
I think i read somewhere that Purdue is returning all 5 starters, and they went 15-3 in league play, or something like that, but is there any doubt in anyone'se mind on the planet, that if we were to organize a Facebook-event tonight for a game tomorrow or in March between Purdue and Michigan State, under the guise that it was straight-up, and no biased refereeing, that State would win every single time by a minimum of 20 points/game?...i mean, like the NBA this year, i checked out of the college game, except for some extra-ordinary instances like Carmelo at Syracuse...but after getting burned last year by anticipating Hibbert's bold gesture to return for his senior year at Georgetown, and then watch the refs make it unwatchable as they were bound-and-determined to get him in to foul trouble every single game, i just don't hold out a lot of hope for anything being good...the best you can hope for is December, before league play starts, and the Hawaii tournament, and State's tough schedule, where shoot-outs like that game against Texas happened last year...
by the time 2009 comes around, its back to Dick Hillary and the plugged-in-to-the-system stalwarts controlling the lives of young men, who otherwise would be entertaining the student bodies, but are instead forced in to this constrained, ugly, 'fundamentals'-emphasized, foul-plagued atrocity we like to call the Big Ten regular season...did i mention i hate Duke, as well?...so, even when we are mercifully allowed to leave the Big Ten via the Big Ten tournament, that somehow never has any upsets, except for teams that suck completely grinding out 54-47 wins, we are brought in to "March Madness" where the teams are fine-tuned, so you get some serious performances like Derrick Rose and Memphis last year, but it is still typically not enough to overcome the inherent corruption that plagues the college game, and as i have mentioned, permeates the NBA, as well ("until this is a player-run sport, and not an attorney-run sport...")...
ahh, basketball, like hip-hop, and its 'gangsta' wing, are corrupted, i believe, so that the general public can argue that they are irrelevant, and even worse, a representation of why the black culture is flawed...so league front-offices as well as record labels do not work to promote their most attractive product, but instead are actively working to hold down the best aspects of black cultural entertainment, simply because it is just flat-out better than white culture, or at least, more entertaining because it comes from a rawer starting point, or something like that, i dont know, ask our President-elect, maybe he knows....so, the main actors in the college basketball game, particularly in the midwest are characterized by the caricature of a 50-something, white, Indiana high school boys coach, parent, or referee, who believes that basketball should not change from when he played, and all that comes with that mentality...it is a disgrace...
so, i will try and get amped up to review the schedules, the rosters, and the games, but i know whats coming...i've been down this road plenty of times before, and i have learned that it is better to not be enraged at 2:30 p.m. on a winter saturday afternoon, because this beautiful, artistic, fully engrossing sport we call basketball is completely manipulated to be something biased, stunted, and just intolerable, because, as i will argue, all year, that is exactly the intentions of those currently in charge...and, it is the reason, that against my better judgement, i write this blog, because i know there is a better future, i know the day the curtain falls on the mirage that has been constructed for this country, and actual talent trumps politics, it will be the most incredible outpouring of relief as well as pure joy from entertainment...
i mean thats what sports are, but when you let people who have never been athletes to control the lives of athletes, you get what you have today...
